The County of Los Angeles employs a detailed planning process to ensure that the housing needs of our future generations are met while preserving open space, protecting natural habitat and parklands and employing the principles of smart growth. This process, which can take several years to complete, incorporates an extensive public review process addressing factors such as traffic, air, water quality and supply, open space and schools.
